What is Dynamic Security?

How Does it Impact You?

Dynamic Security is a technology placed in HP printers that can disable your ability to use aftermarket cartridges, in addition to making it more difficult to move cartridges from printer to printer. This technology is broken into two parts:

Cartridge Policy: This feature locks the end user to using only original HP cartridges in the printer. No aftermarket cartridges will work in the printer until this is disabled.

Cartridge Protection: This feature permanently associates toner cartridges with a specific printer so they cannot be used in other printers. When this feature is enabled, if someone attempts to transfer a cartridge from the original printer into another printer, the new printer will not print with the cartridge. The printer control panel displays a message that the cartridge is protected. If you recycle the chip used on the cartridge, it will not work on the next cartridge.

It is important to turn off the Dynamic Security feature on HP printers to protect your ability to use aftermarket cartridges. The process is similar across multiple printers.
